OLDHAM Aquatics duo Jack Graham and Callum Quigley will bid to top an already successful year when they head to Sheffield next month to compete in the ASA National Youth Championships.
The Ponds Forge event, which takes place between August 5-10, is the highlight of the national junior swimming year and around 2,000 athletes from across the UK will take part.
Graham (17) and Quigley (16) both use the innovative ultra-short race pace training programme endorsed by Michael Andrew who, when aged 14, became the youngest-ever American male swimmer to turn professional, and to great effect.
Mark Lord, Oldham Aquatics head coach, said: “We have had a fantastic year so far. I’m really looking to a big season finale at this year’s national championships.
“Both Jack and Callum have been working hard in training and are showing great potential – particularly Callum with his excellent starts. A semi-final or final swim for Jack or Callum would be a great result.
“Looking forward to next season, we will be developing our younger swimmers with the help of Jack and Callum’s national championships experience.”
