BILAL Khiljee has answered Glodwick’s call for tomorrow’s Twenty20 Competition quarter-final clash.
With professional Rehan Rafiq recuperating after being knocked unconscious while fielding in a game, the Warren Lane outfit were on the look-out for a deputy for the home tie against Whalley Range.
Step forward Khiljee, who stars for Shelley in the Huddersfield League Premiership.
The Pakistani is a familiar face in local cricket league circles. The all-rounder was Stayley’s paid man in the Saddleworth League and latterly had a fruitful spell with Huddersfield League side Delph.
Rafiq, who spent Sunday night under observation in Royal Oldham Hospital, is also expected to miss Saturday’s league fixture at Whalley Range. He should return for the visit of Wythenshawe on August 2.
The 35-year-old was at Glodwick’s Tuesday evening net session, but was restricted to watching the players go through their paces.
Tomorrow’s competition, sponsored by Pro Elite Sports, features another match-up between Heyside, the holders, and Greenfield.
Tomorrow’s fixtures (start 6.30pm) —
