Thompson’s top prize

STUART Thompson shot nett rounds of 65 and 67 for a two-round total of 132 and victory in the Captain’s Prize, a major at Crompton and Royton.
Runner-up, a respectful four shots behind, was Jack Barnes (69+67=136), on a card play-off with Barry Chadderton (67+69=136).
Alan McMunn won the first-round prize with a return of 78-13-65, but he needed a card play-off to beat Steven J Taylor (69-4-65).
Mark Barrett (71-5-66) was third, while Scott O’Leary’s 72 earned him the best gross prize following a card play-off.
Tin O’Leary shot 76-11-65 to take the second-round honours from Peter Boggiano (75-9-66), followed by Gary Hartley (72-5-67, CPO).
