Harriers pair pass endurance test

TWO members of Oldham and Royton Harriers took part in the adidas 24-hour Thunder Run at Catton Park, Derbyshire.

The race is staged around a 10k off-road route and can be run individually or in teams of up to eight athletes.

Anne-Marie Lord competed solo and ran just over 80 miles in the 24 hours to finish in 12th place.

Dominic Kennerley joined up with Oldham postman Glyn Billington and three other runners to run in the team relay event and between them they ran over 190 miles and finished in second place overall.

At the Oldham park run, Tony Muir had a great run to set a personal best of 19:02 as he finished in second place.

Keith Pleasant ran well in 25:03, followed by brother Neil in 27:00, Steven Rudd 27:01, Lindsey Rudd 27:02, Julie Luckman 28:37, Chloe Hart 32:46, Tony Hart 32:47, Angie Hart 32:48, Julia Heap 34:32 and Vicky Corrigan 41:46.

At the Heaton park run, Sarah Carroll finished in 27:51 with husband David in 27:52.

The Joe Ashcroft Saddleworth six-miles race, organised by the Harriers, takes place on Wednesday, August 13 (7.30pm) from Saddleworth Youth Centre, Wellington Road, Greenfield.
