Mixed fortunes

Non-league

THERE were mixed fortunes for Chadderton and Oldham Boro on the opening day of the new North-West Counties League season.

Chadderton got their First Division campaign off to a perfect start as they triumphed 2-1 at Daisy Hill.

Rob Flint set the visitors on their way after just 12 minutes, only for Daisy Hill to level through Stephen Barlow just after the hour mark.

However, Flint pounced again with just two minutes to go to hand Chaddy victory.

Boro took on Cheadle Town at their new home — Mossley’s Seel Park.

All the goals came in the first half, but Boro lost 2-1.

James Horan scored from the penalty spot to fire the Stockport side into the lead.

Adam Owens evened it up for Boro, only for a second penalty strike from Nathan Neequaye to win the game for the visitors eight minutes before the interval.

Chadderton will hope to build on their opening-day win when they host Rochdale Town tomorrow night (7.45pm).
