Three ‘n’ easy
Date published: 08 August 2014
SADDLEWORTH president Allan Entwistle and Barbara Shuttleworth stormed to victory in the Millgate Trophy on the Mountain Ash course.
They carded a superb round of 63 to sail home seven shots clear of Werneth’s Adam Rowbotham and his sister-in-law Tracey Rowbotham.
It was the third success in the mixed event for the Saddleworth duo.
In third place was Ian Cash and Debra Cockburn (71), also of Saddleworth, while David Butterworth and M Hornby were fourth (71.5).
Next were another Saddleworth team of Barry Tomlinson and lady vice-captain Pam Tomlinson (71.5), who is the sister of the winner.
There was a familiar look to the result of the subsidiary competition, the Eric Milne Trophy.
Tracey’s husband Lee and playing partner Fiona Dooley, of Werneth, claimed top honours for the fifth time in the last half-a-dozen years after returning the best gross of 76.
