DROYLSDEN’S seven-game unbeaten run was ended in emphatic fashion by Moorside at Turf Pit Lane, writes KEVIN RICHARDSON.
After crashing to 86 all out — seamer Rick Harrington took five for 46 — Gareth Dent’s men then looked on as professional Grant Hodnett scored 50 to steer the hosts to a 10-wicket victory.
Moorside remain third in the table, 14 points clear of their Tanner Cup final conquerors Heyside, who squeezed past Whalley Range by a three-wicket margin at Kingsbrook Road.
Scott Bloor, with four for 42, helped restrict the home side to 163 for seven in their 45 overs.
Cloete Buitendag scored his maiden Saddleworth and District Cricket League century as Uppermill racked up 304 at home to Micklehurst.
The overseas amateur, from South Africa, struck 136 and James Baron 62. Arslam Dar bowled an eventful couple of overs for the visitors. He claimed four wickets, at a cost of 30 runs!
Micklehurst managed to acquire maximum batting points in reply. They reached 230, thanks to Michael Blomeley’s 50 and 47 from Craig Lawrence. Baron completed a fine afternoon’s work by bagging five for 34.
