CHADDERTON dug deep to beat Wigan Robin Park 3-2 in Division One of the North-West Counties League.

Behind on two occasions, they fought back to claim the spoils thanks to goals from Matty Russell, Chris Pauley and James Curley.

Andrew Simm put Wigan ahead in the 13th minute. Russell equalised for the home side after 28 minutes, only for Stephen Young to restore the visitors’ lead 60 seconds later.

Chadderton were back on level terms four minutes after half-time through Pauley’s effort, and it was Curley (57) who clinched the Broadway club’s second victory of the season.

Elsewhere in Division One, OLDHAM BORO are still on the look-out for their first points of the season after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Widnes.

Joel Douglas put the hosts in front just before the half-hour mark. James Corner doubled the lead in the 89th minute.

Boro play host to Ashton Town at Mossley’s Seel Park ground tomorrow.

MOSSLEY, of Evo-Stik League Division One North, drew 3-3 with Curzon Ashton in their latest pre-season game.

Dougie Carroll, Mike Fish and substitute Brian Matthews were on target for the Lilywhites, while Sam Walker (two) and Alex Samizaden were Curzon’s marksmen.
