Opening salvo so sweet for Graham

GRAHAM Whitaker won the biggest major at Brookdale, the Captain’s Final, with a brilliant two-round total of nett 129.
Six qualifiers produced a top 48 who went through to the two-round final and Whitaker opened up with a sensational 59.
In the second round, he made a nervous start with a seven on the first hole, but he steadied himself and finished with a 70 for a a total score of 129, a record for the competition.
Whitaker also had to contend with the pressure of knowing that runner-up Gary Lever had shot a fabulous second-round 60.
