Incident checks Beech’s charge

ASHLEY Beech pulls a wheelie as he goes through the gears at Cadwell Park.

ASHLEY Beech had to be content with 17th place in round eight of the National Superstock Championship at Cadwell Park.

The race was stopped after two-thirds of its distance after an incident ahead of him, which left one rider needing medical help and debris on the track.

The Moorside rider arrived in Lincolnshire on the back of a retirement in the previous round two weeks earlier when his bike’s brakes failed.

Cadwell Park’s high potential speeds - up to 170mph - led team technicians to fit new brakes ahead of the meeting. Tweaks to the bike in testing helped Beech to 17th position on the grid.

Beech moved up to 16th position and was gaining on the two riders ahead of him when the red flags appeared.

Because more than two-thirds of the race distance had been completed a result was declared, the placings based on those of the previous lap - which meant the Oldham rider had to settle for 17th.

The team competes in a support race at the Silverstone MotoGP on Sunday, with round nine of the National Superstock Championship at Donington Park next weekend.
