DELPH’S excellent recent form in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership continued with a double victory over the weekend.

Yesterday Grant Jones’s resurgent side got the better of Elland in what turned out to be a thriller.

Elland batted first and scored 133 all out from 48.1 overs. Delph would have been confident of chasing down that modest target, but made hard work of it.

At 88 for eight, prospects looked grim, but teenage pair Andy Cadd (14 not out) and Siraj Sajid (35 not out) guided Delph to a welcome second maximum points haul of the weekend.

Jones’s men enjoyed a huge win on Saturday against Skelmanthorpe, when Lancashire prospect Arron Lilley was the undoubted star of the match.

Lilley kicked-off with a superb 125 as Delph registered 259 for nine. In reply, Skelmanthorpe were all out for 83.

WOODHOUSES had to settle for two points from their Greene King Lancashire County League home fixture against Thornham. The visitors took first knock and scored 204 for six. But with ’Houses stuttering on 51 for four in their reply, a heavy shower curtailed proceedings for the day.
