RANGERS second rower Ryan Moore’s season is over after he dislocated his shoulder in this see-saw National Conference Division One clash.
Moore needed immediate hospital treatment and will be out of contention for up to eight weeks.
Despite the setback, fourth-from-bottom Rangers gave fourth-from-top Sharks a thorough test and looked like winning at one point.
At various stages, Rangers trailed 12-0, 23-10 and 29-16, but battled back to lead 32-29 with six minutes left.
Sharks’ man of the match Derrell Olpherts rescued his side with a powerful run through the Rangers defence to touch down under the posts. From the restart, another charge from Olpherts ended with a pass to centre Brandon French for a flattering score for Sharks.
With two games to go, Rangers still have their fate in their own hands. Three teams go down and Rangers are one point clear of the relegation places.
