HEADING FOR A FALL: Craig Heighton.
Oldham St Anne’s 12, Pilkington Recs 52
St Anne's were outplayed by a well-drilled outfit currently third in National Conference Division Two.
The visitors dominated the first half, scoring five tries through star man Ian Stanley, Mike Gerrity, John Rees and a brace from the impressive Kyrand Knapper.
Danny Lynch was on target with four conversions and at half-time the visitors led 28-0.
Saints battled, with Dave Sweeney and Kiel Lancashire rallying team-mates at every opportunity.
But when John Rees went over for his second try, followed by a Mark Ashton touchdown, Saints were way adrift. Two more conversions deepened their gloom.
Saints finally found their rhythm and produced a 25-minute spell that resulted in tries for Dominic Igoe and Greg Worrall, with two conversions.
With minutes remaining and the score at 40-12 in favour of the visitors, Pilkingtons produced a two-try flurry from Stanley and Andrew Knapper. Two more Lynch goals sealed an emphatic success.
