Cup blow for stunned Lilywhites

MOSSLEY have missed out on a potentially money-spinning FA Cup home tie against Tameside neighbours Curzon Ashton thanks to last night’s 2-1 replay defeat against Burscough.

Lilywhites fans were confident of progression after the two sides drew 1-1 at Victoria Park on Saturday. Last night’s Seel Park replay got off to an encouraging start, but Liam Caddick levelled for Burscough shortly after the restart.

The hosts struck the woodwork twice in the extra period, but it was Burscough who snatched victory as defender Nick Ryan bagged the winning goal with just 10 minutes to go.
