BOWLS: NIMBLE Nook’s Steve Mellor will be mixing it with some of crown green bowling’s stars when he takes part in the last 64 of the Waterloo Bowling Handicap tomorrow week (10am).

Mellor plays Macclesfield’s Dave Jackson in a bid to land a place in the last 32, while four-times champion Gary Ellis, also of Nimble Nook, faces a tough test against Spring Waterloo champion, Warwickshire’s Greg Smith. A third Nook player, Matt Gillies, takes on Warrington’s N Doland.

The competiton reaches its climax on Wednesday, September 17 (10am).

THE semi-finals and final of the Saddleworth Bowling League’s Law Swallow Cup, which were postponed because of bad weather last month, will be played at Springbank on Sunday (10.30am)
