Angling: PAUL Wilkinson was in great form as he won the Todmorden AS Trophy match on Townhouse in style.
Wilkinson’s 56lb of carp was tempted by the pole and pellet, and that was way too much for second-placed Pete Eastwood as he tipped 39lb 14oz of carp that took the pellet fished on the tip.
Todmorden’s next trophy match is on Sunday, September 14, at Croft Fishery.
The last Tuesday evening match in the Todmorden AS series saw Ian Ridgway use the pole and pellet for 65lb 9oz of carp as he eased Rob McKendry into second by just three ounces.
His 65lb 6oz catch also fell to pole and pellet.
JOHN McDonald took first place in the latest Cairo AC championship match at Denshaw Vale with a 6lb 3oz mixed bag that fell to the waggler and loose fed maggots. Second place went to Phil Cross with a similar net that weighed 5lb 4oz.
GED Martin (Tri-Cast Highfield) took first place in the first of the fortnightly open matches on the Trent and Mersey Canal. The match was fished on the Broken Cross length where Martin caught skimmers and roach on squatt and pinkie, before switching to caster to net good quality roach for a 6lb 12oz finish. Ken Power (Tri-Cast) also got among the fish with his 6lb 2oz catch.
THE winner of the latest Diggle AS match on Tanner’s Dam was Chris Quinlan. His method feeder approach worked well as he landed seven carp for 31lb 5oz. Ian Cox was next with the pole, chopped worm and caster accounting for his second-placed 28lb 6oz catch that was also made up of seven carp.
TODMORDEN AS are offering renewed senior memberships at a reduced rate of £7 until the end of the year.
