King George off to a flying start

FOOTBALL: LIMESIDE King George got their Midas Plumbing Oldham and District Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division campaign under way with impressive back-to-back victories.
Jermaine Steele and Michael Shepherd were on target in a 2-0 win against Failsworth Athletic, while Steele, Dominic Hallum (two) and Wayne Ware netted in a 4-0 success against Crown Inn.
Fitton Hill grabbed a deserved 5-3 win against Crown Inn thanks to goals from Arron Murdoch (three), Knapman and L Edghill. Gorey (two) and Maksymczuk replied.
Fitton Hill then drew 4-4 with Oldham GPO as Kaine Radcliffe and Arron Murdoch scored two apiece. Mike King (two), James Uren and Andrew Conroy registered for the posties.
Heyside FC opened with a 3-2 win against Failsworth Athletic.
Daniel O’Connell, Chris Ollerton and Gareth Hill scored for Heyside, with Levi Morris and Jamie Marsland replying.
In David Giblin Division One, Carrion Crow thumped Chaddy Cot 4-0 thanks to Knowles (two), Burns and Beckett.
Limeside Athletic edged out Royton Athletic 3-2 as Tom Evans (two) and Connor Jeffery were on the mark. Jamie Clark and Josh Lockett pounched for Royton. However, Limeside then lost 4-0 to Rifle ‘B’, whose scorers were N Barker (two), J Davies and C Standring.
Royton Athletic bounced back from their midweek reverse with a 4-2 success against Springhead Libs. S Palfreyman, A Walsh, K Stevenson and W Burns netted.
