Werneth seek a favour

CRICKET: WERNETH hope to boost their premier division survival hopes tomorrow — and to get a helping hand from their friends.
Werneth, trailing Rochdale by a point at the bottom of the Lake Garage CLL’s top tier, host a Littleborough side which has been struggling recently.
In contrast Werneth have been in good form, with victories over top two Norden and Walsden still in mind.
Werneth will be hoping Royton can overturn Rochdale at Redbrook.
Only one team will be relegated this season due to the addition of two new clubs to the CLL in 2015, so the battle for survival is extremely tense and likely to boil down to the final Sunday of the season — September 14 — when Werneth go to Rochdale.
Sunday’s fixtures see Royton host leaders Norden, and Werneth entertain Heywood.
If Royton can do Werneth a favour the previous day, it will be payback time as Heywood occupy the third-place berth the Paddock outfit are chasing.
It’s very much a case of the last-chance saloon so far as Crompton’s Championship promotion hopes are concerned.
They have to win their last four games to stand any chance, but trips to Ashton tomorrow and Radcliffe 24 hours later are clearly matches they ought to dominate.
Oldham need to halt a dire run of results, but visits to Milnrow tomorrow and Middleton on Sunday offer little hope of respite.
