Rangers down to the wire

RUGBY: THE curtain comes down on Saddleworth Rangers’ season tomorrow with the club’s league status still not secure.
Victory against Milford Marlins will see Shane Tupaea’s side swerve the relegation trapdoor without outside assistance. Should fifth-bottom Rangers falter they could finish in the bottom three.
Three teams are within touching distance of the Shaw Hall Bank Road club, but Rangers won’t be short of confidence after scoring six tries in the 35-10 defeat of Acorn last weekend.
OLDHAM St Anne’s can still make the Division Two play-offs, but need help from local rivals.
Mick Fogerty’s men are on the same number of points as the team in sixth, Leigh East, who play Waterhead tomorrow. For their part, Saints must beat visitors Stanley Rangers to stand any chance of sneaking into the end-of-season competition. But Stanley too are hoping for a late run into the top six.
HONOUR is at stake for Waterhead, who will finish second-bottom irrespective of their result at Easts.
THE National Conference League will remain summer-based for the next three years, the Rugby Football League have confirmed.
