BANNED: James Curley was one of three players banned by the league
FOOTBALL: THREE players from the Midas Plumbing and Heating Services Oldham Sunday League have been given indefinite bans.
Gary Chadderton of Limeside King George, Failsworth Athletic’s Danny Allott and James Curley (Rifle ‘A’) received the bans after an incident following a match between the league’s representative side and an Oldham Athletic XI at SportsDirect.com Park last season.
The incident soured the good relationship between the league and the town’s professional club -resulting in the league being banned from hosting matches at Athletic’s ground.
OLDHAM Tigers have resigned from the Jack Abbott Premier Division without kicking a ball due to a lack of players.
Reigning Lancashire and Cheshire League Premier Division champions Whalley Range showed tremendous character to beat derby rivals Chorltonians 4-0. A fire had wrecked Range’s clubhouse the day before.
AFC Oldham are following up last season’s good work and are in third place after a 5-3 victory over Newton. Moorside Rangers were too hot for Santos to handle in a 7-1 Division One romp.
FAILSWORTH Dynamos continued their fine start to the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division season with a 2-0 win at Castle Hill. Oldham Hulmeians were also in good nick, winning their Division One clash 4-0 at Roach Dynamos.
