TABLE TENNIS:
DUNCAN Hadfield was the star of the show as Saddleworth ‘A’ checked their ‘B’ team’s promising start to the Oldham and District Table Tennis League season.
Hadfield completed a hat-trick of victories — Nathan Buckley and Paul King were among his victims — in his side’s 8-2 victory in the Division One clash.
Dave Cheetham, of Honeywell ‘B’, returned to his former club, Werneth ‘A’, and it was a case of honours even the end of the night. Cheetham pocked a brace and team-mate Rob Carter a treble in the 5-5 draw.
In Division Two, Hollinwood ‘B’ maintained their impressive early-season form with a convincing 8-2 victory over Coldhurst ‘A’.
Joe Redikin and Peadar McKinstry enjoyed 100 per cent records for Hollinwood, while Simon King notched a single for Coldhurst and combined successfully with Barrie Fleet in the doubles.
Deaf Club ‘A’ have also achieved back-to-back victories and top the table.
They were too good for Hollinwood ‘C’, registering an emphatic 9-1 triumph.
Dave Varney and Liaqat Ali gained three wins apiece, while Dave Jefferson notched the consolation.
The first 10-0 scoreline of the season occurred in Division Three as Werneth ‘B’ swept aside their Uppermill counterparts.
