HOCKEY:
A flurry of late goals saw Oldham Women’s Hockey Club firsts crash to a 7-0 defeat against a youthful Alderley Edge side at Newman College.
It was the hosts’ first loss of the season; they were on the back foot for most of the opening half but, with Daisy May Ward outstanding in defence, they managed to keep their opponents at bay.
Oldham started the second half well but were unable to convert several chances.
Alderley Edge broke the deadlock from a controversial penalty award, after which the floodgates opened and there was no way back for Oldham.
