Oldham too good in summit meeting

A TRIP to second-placed Academy in Middlesex held no fears for Oldham Netball Club as they registered an emphatic 63-35 victory.
The reigning Premier League Division One champions were too good for their early title rivals, who were defending an unbeaten record.
Shooters Kathryn Turner and Krista Enziano were picked out with ease in the first quarter and high-flying Oldham soon established an 8-3 lead. Oldham’s defence also worked well and disrupted Academy’s attacking flow.
By the break, Oldham’s lead was still five at 25-20. With everything to play for, it was important Oldham stayed focused. Young shooter Amy Clinton got her chance to impress and quickly capitalised on feeds from Gabby Marshall and replacement Rachel Henry.
Oldham went on an eight-goal run without an answer from Academy.
Halfway through the quarter Clinton went down under contact, and had to leave the court with an ankle injury, which saw Enziano reintroduced at shooter.
Such was Oldham’s superiority, the lead at the end of quarter three was 43-25.
Academy had little more to give and Oldham added another 20 goals to their tally for a convincing triumph.
OLDHAM have a weekend off before facing newly-promoted Turnford (Hertfordshire) at Hathershaw Sports Centre on Sunday, October 26.
