MOTORCYCLE RACING:
OLDHAM’S Ashley Beech finished a fine fourth in the last race of the National Superstock 1,000 Series at Brands Hatch.
Beech has endured mixed fortunes at the 2.3-mile circuit, with a pole position in the final round in 2013 and a heavy crash in the opening race of 2014.
Beech started the race seventh on the grid and made a great start. Entering the first corner he had moved up two places, only to be pushed offline and forced back to seventh.
Beech managed to get through and was battling with the leading group and on lap eight of 14 moved into fourth position - which he hung on to, narrowly missing a podium finish - his best-ever ever result in the National 1,000 series and a great way to end the 2014 Championship.
