ROYTON skipper Denny Hulme has congratulated former club professional Ben Dunk on his call-up to Australia’s T20 squad against South Africa next month.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dunk confirmed his form by scoring 229 for Tasmania against Queensland – the first domestic double century in a one-day match in Australia – at the weekend.
Royton’s pro in 2012 made a huge impression as he helped the club gain promotion to the CLL Premier Division.
Though he signed to return to the Paddock this summer, his progress in Australia saw Royton waive his contract
“It is brilliant that he has been selected,” said Hulme. “He is a legend at this club and still keeps in regular touch with several of the players. It shows you what sort of a man he is: after making a double hundred the other day, he still found time to text me happy birthday.”
