TOP OF THE POTS . . . Oldham Academy youngster Josh Cooper.
SNOOKER:
OLDHAM Snooker Academy youngster Josh Cooper has qualified for the last 16 of the English Amateur 6 Reds competition.
He was one of the qualifiers from the Northern section heats held at his home venue.
The English finals will be held in Northampton on January 31, next year.
A total of 21 players from as far afield as Lancaster, Liverpool, Chester and Stoke took part in three groups of seven. OSA were represented by Cooper, Aaron Davies, Ryan Davies, and Ben Murphy, the latter only failing to reach the national finals on frames difference.
A BREAK of 42 from Tanveer Hussain gave him a narrow victory in his frame for Three Cs in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League
But his team’s opponents, Springbank, dented his personal satisfaction by winning the match 4-2.
With five out of the eight fixtures producing 5-1 scorelines, there was plenty of jockeying for position in the table.
