GOLF:
A PLAY-OFF will be needed to decide the winner of the Final Day Medal, the last major of the season at Crompton and Royton.
Played in memory of Stuart Woodhead, the competition saw a tie between Dave Harris (84-16-68) and Ben Gledhill (81-13-68). Tim O’Leary (79–10-69) was third, while the best gross score was Gary Melling’s 72.
RUNAWAY winners of Oldham Gems’ three-man Texas scramble were Brian and Geoff Allen and Barrie Robinson with 35 nett.
Struggling in a long way behind were Brian Best, Bill Broomhead and Peter Schofield (40.25), and Ray Buckley, Mike Dunkerley and Frank Lawrence (40.5).
AUDREY Whittaker and Noreen Nicholson teamed up to win Crompton and Royton’s yellow ball competition with 89 points.
At the same course, Joyce Adams posted 33 points to win a single Stableford. Second was Ann Whittaker (30).
