Higgy show promise in first-day loss

HIGGINSHAW kicked-off the 2014-15 campaign against the know-how of Simms Cross - and weren’t too downhearted after losing 36-20.
Simms Cross went in front with a try after seven minutes, and Higgy hit back with a good try from second row Daryl Renshaw.
Higgy took a grip on the game, but another powerful break saw Simms Cross loose forward Lloyd Hankin touch down. Price landed the goal for a 12-6 lead.
Higgy responded as Ryan Standring scored under the posts. Swaine addedg the goal to tie the score.
From the restart Simms Cross were penalised for a high tackle and Swaine kicked a penalty to hand Higgy a narrow half-time lead, 14-12.
Back came Simms Cross with tries from Hankin and Connor Henry, plus three Price conversions to put their side in command.
Two moire Simms Cross tries and a goal sealed victory for the opposition.
