Joe Ford: waiting game
Rugby Union:
FLY-HALF Joe Ford insists he is more than happy to play the waiting game at Sale Sharks as he goes in search of a first start of the season.
The 24-year-old former Waterhead ARFLC junior arrived at Sale at the start of last season from Leeds Carnegie, making 17 appearances - 12 of them from the bench.
Ford has run out five times as a replacement so far this season but he remains hopeful of getting more game-time as the LV= Cup gets under way.
“It’s just a case of waiting at the moment, as obviously Cipriani has been playing really well, so I’ve got no qualms with that,” he said.
“I’ve just got to be patient and when I get my chance make sure I do all I can and play well. I don’t know what the coaches are thinking, but if I’m selected in the LV= Cup hopefully I can make an impact.
“I’ve not put too much pressure on myself and so my aims for this year are just to play well when I get my chance and see what happens. That’s all I’m thinking.”
ROUND one of the LV= Cup starts this weekend. For more information, visit lv.com/rugby or follow @LVRugby
