TRIBUTE: Oldham first XV and Garstang observe a minute’s silence in memory of the late Lyn Morgan.
IT was standing room only at Oldham Crematorium for the funeral service of former Oldham RL and Oldham RU prop forward Lyn Morgan.
In his earlier life, Welshman Lyn (74) was closely associated with both clubs as well as Broughton Park RUFC, where he had two spells as club president. He also played for Rochdale Hornets and for clubs in the Oldham Amateur Rugby League.
Oldham RL, Oldham RU, Broughton Park and Oldham RL Players’ Association, of which Lyn was a member until he died, were all represented.
Huddersfield Giants, where his son Paul is on the board, were also in attendance, with many people unable to get into the crematorium and forced to stand outside.
Oldham RU first team held a minuite’s silence in honour of Lyn before their game at home to Garstang on Saturday.
