NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:

A DISASTROUS start proved costly for Mossley as they were dumped out of the FA Trophy at the first qualifying round stage.

In action against New Mills, the Lilywhites were stunned to be 3-0 down after only 15 minutes at Church Lane.

Mossley joint-bosses Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison made a couple of changes by half time, and after the restart the team rallied to end the match in a 3-2 defeat.

Subs Dougie Carroll and Charlie Anderson replied for the Lilywhites, but they couldn’t find an equaliser during a frantic final 15 minutes. Mossley return to league action on Saturday when they host Darlington 1883.

THERE was also frustration for CHADDERTON, knocked out of the FA Carlsberg Vase in the first round.

They travelled to Northern Counties East League outfit Dronfield Town, but lost 2-1 to a last-minute goal.

A Nick Horsefield penalty handed the hosts a half-time lead. But Chris Pauley levelled matters for Chaddy with 18 minutes to go.

Hopes were high for victory , but their Vase hopes were undone in the 89th minute when Christian Savage struck Dronfield’s winner.

Oldham Boro were without a fixture.

Chaddy return to North-West Counties League action on Saturday when they host Cammell Laird 1907, while Boro travel to Litherland.
