FOOTBALL: LIMESIDE King George secured a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory as they booked a place in the semi-finals of the Manchester County Shield.

Away at GCJT, King George battled out a topsy-turvy 5-5 draw after extra-time.

Wayne Ware led the way with a hat-trick for the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League

outfit, while Warren Berry and Andrew Stafford also netted. King George held their nerve in the shoot-out to book their last-four berth.

Jack Abbott Premier Division rivals Rifle ‘A’ enjoyed a more comfortable route to the Shield semi-finals as they saw off reigning Hyde Sunday League champions Moston Villa 4-1. Nathan Eastmond (two), Carl Beamish and Ryan Hobin pounced for Rifle.

King George and Rifle have been drawn against each other in the last four, with that latest titanic battle between the two local rivals set to take place in February.
