NICK Campbell’s late strike meant maximum points for High Crompton Victoria in the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League David Giblin Division One.
This latest victory maintains Vics’ fine start to the campaign against an Albion side without a win so far this season.
On an afternoon when the vast majority of the league’s clubs had the day off because of the Manchester derby, this match was brought forward by two hours.
Albion must have thought they were destined to claim their first win when Mark Sadebyni’s strike gave them a 19th-minute lead. Campbell replied for Vics shortly afterwards, before player-manager John Ryder edged his side ahead on the stroke of half-time.
Sadebyni levelled matters for Albion with another smart finish 10 minutes after the restart, yet after a spirited display by the division’s bottom-placed side in an evenly-fought encounter, it was left to Vics to claim a win they just about deserved.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Campbell latched onto an Anthony Jones pass before slotting the ball home in assured style.
