Carroll back as Mossley plot to down Darlington

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY joint-manager Peter Band is delighted to have strike ace Dougie Carroll back in contention after two months out through injury.
Former Winsford hit-man Carroll returned for the first time since August in last weekend’s FA Trophy tie at New Mills, and scored in a 3-2 defeat as substitute.
With Carroll now being considered for a start as the Lilywhites host Evo-Stik League Division One North leaders Darlington 1883, Band said: “It was great to see Dougie back in the team doing what he does best. He’s a natural finisher, a striker who will score eight or nine times from every 10 chances he gets.”
Carroll may well face competition for a start tomorrow after Band and joint-boss Lloyd Morrison drafted in two more new strikers this week.
Lewis Nuttall is an ex-Burnley youngster who has also been on Wrexham’s books, while Dominic Marie arrives at Seel Park via Halifax.
CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO both return to North-West Counties League First Division action tomorrow with contrasting fixtures.
The former face a stiff task as they host table-topping Cammell Laird 1907, a side who have lost once so far this term. They have scored 52 goals in 15 league games.
However, mid-table Chadderton have improved of late. Before last weekend’s last-minute FA Vase defeat at Dronfield Town, they had won their previous two league fixtures.
Boro, who still prop up the table having won twice so far this term, travel to second-bottom Litherland REMYCA in search of a much-needed boost.
