CHADDERTON’S Anthony Crolla will have 2015 on his mind when he steps into the ring for an eight-round fight in Dublin on Saturday.
WBO inter-continental lightweight champion Crolla (27) is set to take on 21-year-old Hungarian dangerman Giyorgy Mizsei Jnr at the 3Arena.
Crolla said there is slight doubt whether Mizsei Jnr will actually face him — but whoever is in the opposite corner, ‘Million Dollar’ will be ready.
Crolla sees this as a tune-up fight before a potentially giant tussle in January that might be an eliminator for the world title.
Crolla said: “I’m always in the gym and I’m on the bill to make sure I’m ready for the end of January and a big fight.
“There’s a doubt whether Mizsei is going to make it, but it doesn’t really matter who I fight, I’m desperate to put on a good performance for the fans. There will be a lot of faces in the audience who haven’t seen me in the flesh before, so I want to show them what I can do.”
