Heyside grind out a victory

FOOTBALL: HEYSIDE produced a gritty display as they eased to a 2-1 victory at Honley in the first round of the Huddersfield League Barlow Cup.
Initially Heyside struggled to play their passing game and the hosts took the lead.
Jordan Aird and Nathan Tossum both went close before man of the match Josh Briddon levelled with his third goal of the season.
Heyside started the second half much more brightly and it was no surprise when, on the hour, a Daniel Dunn corner was powerfully headed home by defender Gary Schofield.
James Leonard, Chris Ollerton and Tossum all fluffed further chances to increase the lead, but despite a nervy last five minutes Heyside hung on to make it through to the next round.
