FOOTBALL: GARETH Chew was the goal ace for Diggle as they progressed to the second round of the Huddersfield and District League’s Barlow Cup.
Chew’s opener came after 25 seconds when, from Diggle’s first attack, he forced the ball home from a very tight angle.
With Devy’s side in the ascendancy, Chew struck again after 16 minutes with a well-struck drive from 12 yards.
Chew had a glorious chance to claim a hat-trick but he fired his 26th-minute spot-kick wide.
Netherton scored what turned out to be a consolation goal with nine minutes remaining.
