FOR the first time since he started playing in the Oldham and District Table Tennis League seven years ago, Darren Lindley lost two sets in a match.
The Saddleworth ‘A’ star, from Barnsley, was beaten by Richard Lightowler and Jeff Craighill for Glodwick.
The result, 9-1 in Glodwick’s favour, ruined Saddleworth’s unbeaten record and provided a pick-me-up for the victors.
Meanwhile, hosts Honeywell ‘A’ and Saddleworth ‘B’ were engaged in a lengthy 5-5 draw as seven of the sets required a fifth game. Nathan Buckley starred for the visitors, finishing the evening unbeaten.
The top two teams met in Division Two, and it was Uppermill ‘A’ who emerged victorious thanks to an 8-2 scoreline against Unison ‘A’.
Dennis Taylor and Gary Crossley were unbeaten for ’Mill, while Steve Collins and Andy Hey notched singles for Unison.
