DARTS:
CARL Sneyd had plenty to celebrate in Oldham’s Lancashire GMC Super Eights Elite League victory at St Helens.
Not only did he help the team to a 6-4 win, he also kept his unbeaten record for the season - and won a county call-up.
Sneyd has been selected for Lancashire’s match at Glamorgan on the weekend of November 29.
Sneyd, who also plays rugby league for Oldham St Anne’s, won game seven against St Helens’ Eddie Dootson, registering a three-dart average of 86.36 in a terrific 4-0 triumph.
Oldham got off to a great start as Paul Cartwright beat PDC player John Bowles 4-2 with an average of 84.04.
St Helens won the next two matches, but victories for John Downs (4-1, 787.46) and Dave Adshead (4-0, 87.50) put the visitors back in front.
Sneyd’s success after St Helens had drawn level saw Oldham nose 4-3 ahead, and they stretched the advantage to 5-3 thanks to Mark McGeeney (4-0, 93.73).
The home side claimed match nine, but Oldham secured victory with Lee Holden’s 4-2 success.
Oldham, third in the table, host Burnley at Queen Street Conservative Club on Sunday (12.30pm).
