RUGBY:
HOLLINWOOD’S hopes of building on their superb defeat of East Leeds appeared over before they had started as only 11 players turned up for the trip to Hanging Heaton in Dewsbury.
But even though they lost 40-10, credit must go to those who did play as they gave 100 per cent.
Hollinwood were only 12-10 adrift at the break, and with injuries to Ashley Dixon and Jack Donbavand, they were down to nine men for a short spell. Donbavand returned with a split eyebrow taped up.
On half-time, Andy Blair arrived at the ground to become Hollinwood’s 11th man.
Hanging Heaton had the advantage of the slope in the second period and, playing an expansive game found gaps in the Hollinwood line. The visitors tackled ferociously, but conceded 28 unanswered points.
Hollinwood did have several chances to score, but were unable to add to first-half tries from Pete Davies and Andy Gorey, who also kicked a goal.
