Angling: CHRIS Woodrup continued his great season by clinching the Socials AC fur and feather match on Tyle lodge.

Opting for the pole and pellet, he bagged 23lb 7oz of roach, ide and bream.

Junior member Jamie Ashton showed the adults how to do it with a fine bit of angling skill to claim second place with a 16lb 4oz catch including 14lb 2oz of common carp.

TONY Ward took first place in the Diggle AC match on Boulders Lake at Old Hough Farm.

Using the long pole and pellet, he tipped 24lb 7oz of carp on to the scales.

Organiser Dave Machin again made the frame with a second-best 21lb 14oz net, which included mostly ide and two small carp on pole and maggot.

DAVE Machin went one better in the latest of the Diggle AC Tuesday matches on Tanners Dam thanks to a 31lb 8oz net made up of seven carp on pole and pellet. Eon Wilson was the runner-up with a level 15lb catch of silvers on pole and maggot.

I FISHED the Wednesday open on the Lidl length of the Mirfield Canal, where I managed third place with 6lb 6oz net of roach to four ounces.

Using bread punch at four nine and 13 metres, I caught at regular intervals in the five-hour event.

Alan Crook (Maver NW) took the plaudits with a superb net of roach, which fell to bread punch and weighed in at 11lb 4oz. Runner-up Richard Jackson (Halifax Matrix) recorded a 6lb 9oz catch, which included a few perch and roach bag attracted by pinkie over groundbait at 13 metres.

I went two places better in the Saturday open on the Boat and Horses length of the Rochdale Canal.

Clinching victory with 250 roach, I used just four sections of pole for 9lb 3oz.

Crook had to settle for second-best again, with his bread punch approach working well for a decent stamp of roach for a net of 8lb 4oz.

IT was rock-hard going in the latest Wigan Winter League match on the Haigh Country Park length.

Some sections featured only ounces while others had dry nets.

Fortunately, my match went well as I had 83 roach on bread punch at five, 11 and 14 metres for a section-winning 2lb 5oz 12drams net.

My team, Tri-Cast Rochdale 1, won the team match with 41 points, followed by Maver on 45pts, with Halifax Matrix and Saints tying on 47pts.

DAVE Holland won the Border Fisheries match on Meridian Lake. The Tri-Cast Highfield rod had 34lb 12oz of carp on maggot across. Kev Loftus was second with 20lb 14oz.

JAMES Cantello, of Tri-Cast Highfield, dominated the Old Hough Fishery Thursday open. His straight lead and method feeder approach netted 21 carp and f1s for 43lb. Barry Holmes, in second place, took 35lb 1oz.
