Mossley on a high for away day

INJURIES appear to be clearing up for Mossley, who are almost at full strength ahead of a potentially hectic Christmas and New Year period.

The Lilywhites suffered a worrying run of four straight defeats going into last weekend’s action, but they triumphed 2-1 at Prescot Cables in the league and beat Manchester Premier Cup holders Trafford in this year’s competition on penalties on Wednesday.

Tomorrow they tackle an away Evo-Stik League Division One North task at Clitheroe, and with his team currently sitting comfortably in ninth place, joint-boss Peter Band is feeling positive.

“We are getting players back now and the options are there,” he said. “All in all we’re looking good, and once we’re fully fit we know we can be a match for anyone.”

Goalkeeper Andy Farrimond will play through the pain barrier with an arm injury at Shawbridge tomorrow.

THERE might have been double FA Carlsberg Vase postponement frustration for Chadderton during the past week, but they will be confident of playing tomorrow’s home North-West Counties League First Division clash against Irlam at Butterworth Street.

Chadderton, who will host Newcastle Benfield in the third round of the Vase should they win Wednesday’s re-scheduled tie at AFC Darwen, are in good nick having won their last three league fixtures.

OLDHAM Boro will be keen to bounce back from their midweek Manchester Premier Cup defeat when they host Litherland REMYCA at Seel Park. Boro are still rooted to the bottom of the First Division table, but will fancy their chances of seeing off a Litherland side who are only a few places above them in 13th.
