CRICKET:
BAMFORD Fieldhouse have had their application to rejoin the Saddleworth and District Cricket League rejected by the competition’s executive committee.
The Hollin Lane outfit were thrown out of the league at the culmination of the 2013 season for “continued flouting of the rules”.
THE 2015 season gets under way on Sunday, April 19, but finishes a week later than usual on Sunday, September 20, because of the a congested fixture programme, which includes fixed dates for the LCB Cup.
TWO umpires beginners’ courses are due to start early next year, at Denton West Cricket Club from January 12, and Milnrow CC from January 13. The cost is £40. For details contact Eric Roberts on (0161) 652 1108.
SADDLEWORTH batsman Darren Shadford picked up the 2014 amateur batting prize for the second time in four years after averaging 38.43. The leading professional batsman was Moorside’s Grant Hodnett.
