Carter treble tops as Honeywell taste victory

TABLE TENNIS:
HONEYWELL ‘B’ emerged victorious in a bottom-of-the-table clash in Division One of the Oldham Table Tennis League.
They beat Rosehill 7-3, thanks to a treble from Rob Carter and two apiece from son Paul and Dave Cheetham. Andy Perry and Simon Collins replied with one each for the visitors.
At the other end of the spectrum, Glodwick ‘B’ extended their lead with a 10-0 win over Werneth ‘A’.
James Chappell, Khamal Hussain and his son Amirul all won three sets each.
In Division Two, Uppermill ‘A’ enhanced their title ambitions with an excellent 9-1 victory at Deaf Club ‘A’. ennis Taylor and Gary Crossley recorded maximums and Mark Simpson chipped in with a double. Liaqat Ali registered the solitary point for Deaf.
Saddleworth ‘C’ caused a shock by defeating hosts Hollinwood ‘B’ 7-3. Duncan Hadfield and Adam Rowbotham notched trebles for Saddleworth, while George Jones, Jack Christian and Joe Redikin contributed one victory apiece for the home side.
Uppermill ‘B’ were made to work hard for their 6-4 home success over Coldhurst ‘C’ in Division Three.
Man-of-the-match Howard Meadham registered a hat-trick for ’Mill, Pete Watson bagged two and Keith Moores one. Malcolm Wills, Neil England and Darren Brown replied with one apiece for Coldhurst.
