THE bad weather took its toll over Christmas, with two of three scheduled fixtures postponed.

Mossley was the only local outfit to see action, and won 3-1 at High Peak neighbours New Mills on Boxing Day.

The Lilywhites were worthy winners on a cold, wet afternoon at Church Lane, with a Danny Grimshaw own goal, Sam Robinson and Matty Purcell handing the visitors a 3-0 advantage by the 70-minute mark.

Grimshaw added a consolation goal for the well-beaten Millers in stoppage-time at the end.

The result lifted the Lilywhites temporarily into 10th place in the Evo-Stik League Division One North table.

Yesterday’s scheduled home fixture against Bamber Bridge was postponed due to a frozen Seel Park pitch. Mossley are next due to play on New Year’s Day, as hosts to bottom side Padiham.

SATURDAY’S eagerly-anticipated North-West Counties League First Division clash between Chadderton and Oldham Boro was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In-form Chadderton return to action on Saturday when they travel to Rochdale Town.

Struggling Boro are due to host Atherton Collieries on the same day.
