DAVID Lewis was the ace in the pack as his four-man team won the Am Am Betterball Par Bogey competition at Ashton.
He recorded a hole in one on the 18th hole — a 145-yard par three off the winter tees — to secure his side’s victory. The other members of the team were Jonny Lewis, Simon Baxendale and John Jenkinson.
Meanwhile, Crompton and Royton’s men played their seventh winter league contest, and leading the way on 104 points were P Ireson, C Lowe, A Scoltock and R Anchor.
Oldham GEMS played a two from three team Stableford, and Stuart Wagstaffe, Barry Cotton and Geoff Beard came home victorious with 42 points, three more than John Billington, Mike Dunkerley and Steve Smith.
THE winner of the Chronicle competition for a year’s family membership to Marsden Golf Club is Mr E Woodward, of Shaw.
He correctly identified as nine being the number of holes on the course, which is situated on the edge of the Pennines.
