MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band is targeting a concerted play-off push from his team in 2015.

The Lilywhites kick-off the New Year tomorrow with a home Evo-Stik League Division One North clash against Padiham (3pm).

The visitors to Seel Park are bottom of the table, having struggled all season so far, while Band’s men will be high on confidence, having triumphed comfortably at New Mills last time out on Boxing Day.

“We do sometimes struggle a bit against teams down at the bottom,” said Band. “But confidence is high among our squad at the moment and I’m hopeful we’ll get a victory.

“The attitude of all the players was spot-on at New Mills on Boxing Day. Despite difficult conditions we played well and throughly deserved to win 3-1.

“If we win against Padiham we’ll only be five or six points shy of the play-off places and that has to be the aim for the second half of the season.

“We’ve got a tough game at leaders Northwich to follow on Saturday, but if we can get a bit of winning run going that can set us up for a go at the play-offs.

“We’ve got a fully fit squad available at the moment and it’s all looking positive as we head into the new year.”
