NETBALL: DESPITE showing a little hesitation on occasion, Oldham were 15-7 to the good against Bury after the first quarter of their North-West Premier League clash at Hathershaw College.
The hosts continued to lead the way in the home encounter, to run out emphatic 60-38 winners.
For the second quarter, coach Suzy Chapman replaced Victoria Austin with Rebecca Hope at wing attack, while Jess Dale came on at goal keeper.
Bury drew level, thanks to a couple of turnovers, before a nasty injury to the visitors’ Michelle Carroll held up play.
It was difficult for both sides to get back into the game after the incident, but Oldham regained their composure to build up a 29-19 lead at half-time.
The third quarter saw Oldham, after making five changes, take a firm grip on proceedings. Leading 48-29 with a quarter remaining, Chapman made just one change with Victoria Austin coming on at wing defence.
Tiredness crept into Oldham’s play as they dropped the ball at times, but there were some impressive moves, with quick turns and ball handling.
