TOUCHING DOWN: Ashley Dixon evades a despairing tackle by a Keighley Albion opponent to score Hollinwood’s opening try
RUGBY: HOLLINWOOD gave as good as they got before eventually succumbing 30-12 at home to second-placed Keighley Albion in Division Five of the Pennine League.
The hosts soon found themselves on the back foot, conceding two tries - one converted.
It looked as though Albion would run away with the match at Fields New Road, but Ashley Dixon pulled a try back and, with Andy Gorey kicking the goal, reduced the deficit to four points.
The visitors stretched clear again with a converted touchdown, only for Josh Hulme to crash over in reply. Gorey added the extras to make the score 16-12 at the break.
Hollinwood showed up well in the face of a good side, and forced their opponents back with strong drives from Warren Taylor, Andy Blair and Hulme. Pete Davies, Dixon and Gorey were strong in the tackle.
But Albion would not be denied a seventh win from eight league starts as they put another 14 points on the board.
