FOOTBALL: ONLY two Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League fixtures survived the icy blast - but they produced 19 goals.
Both matches came in the Challenge Cup third round, with Jack Abbott Premier Division outfit Rifle ‘A’ crushing Martin Buckley Division Two leaders Legends of Lees 10-0.
Division Two Oldham XI prevailed 5-4 against Division One Royton Athletic in a thriller.
Robert Quinlan (three), Tom Breza and Jack Holmes netted for Oldham.
Heyside were also in good goalscoring form in the Manchester County Cup as they triumphed 6-1 at Chorlton Sports and Social Club.
AVRO remain in mid-table in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division following a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of high-flying Prestwich Heys.
In Division One, Hollinwood, who are also battling away in eighth position in the standings, went down 3-1 at second-placed Old Alts.
It was derby day in Division Two, with Springhead’s second string returning home from a clash against their Avro counterparts with a terrific 7-2 victory.
